Eagle Mountain
As a Texas Master Naturalist, part of our curriculum is learning about different biomes in our chapter area. More obscure biomes are often overlooked compared to the obvious rivers, forests, and lakes.
Within the curriculum, naturalists observe that people often notice when forests are cleared. It’s hard not to notice when trees are missing from the landscape they once belonged to. It is, however, different with prairies. People tend to see a field of overgrown grass and don’t think twice about mowing and clearing it to build houses and develop over them.
When you look closely, they are an incredible ecosystem brimming with life. They are much more important than what is obvious. For those that appreciate nature, we are often the ones fighting and giving a voice to the voiceless.
